You all know what first aid is right? If you have a cut, clean it and put a bandaid on. If you are bleeding, use gauze and put pressure on it. So on, but what about our companions? Our furry friends? What if your dog had a deep cut? Or worse….
The first thing we have to get straight is what we are putting in our first aid. Each item below is important and you never know what might happen.
- Gauze – to use the gauze press the white fabric onto a wound and apply pressure. If it becomes soaked, (in the blood), then grab another piece and apply more pressure.
- Exam gloves – Excellent for handling injuries. Especially if it’s an open wound. Imagine all the germs that could be in your hands!
- Hydrogen Peroxide – Warning: This part is a story for enjoyment. You look at the counter. No! The box of chocolate is completely gone! You see your dog stuffing his face in the box in your room. You yank the box away and grab 3% Hydrogen Peroxide. You give it to the dog. And a few minutes later your dog throws up. Vomiting all the chocolate on the ground! (WARNING⚠️: it will only work effectively if you give it to your dog/cat after a few minutes of consumption.)
- Muzzle – No matter how sweet your dog is he may react if he has pain.
- Collar and Leash – Trust me it’s useful. What if your dog ran away and broke its leash?
- Eyewash – May be needed to flush your pet’s eyes.
- Burn Gel – Though burns don’t seem like a big deal, they are.
- Towels or Blankets – Needed for keeping your pets warm.
- Cold Pack – Can help with sprains and bruises.
- Hot Pack – Can keep the dogs warm and improve circulation.
- Bandage Wrap – Obviously band-aids don’t work on dogs so this is a wrap that acts as an animal band-aid.
- Flash light – Never know if you need more light to peer closer at the wound tick of bump!
- Water – good for washing wounds.
- Pet first aid manual – Important thing to have when you don’t have your closest friend, GOOGLE!
Obviously there are way more items that you can put in your first aid kit. For more tips watch How To Make A Pet First-Aid Kit – Tutorial
Thank you for the article! I’m 9 years old and it was really fun to read and learn! Please write more 🙂
Thank you! 😁😁😁 When I was younger it was hard to find a book or website that was fun, easy to follow, and challenging at the same time. That’s why I enjoy making blog posts. (I love getting comments😁😁😁).
Evelyn? Do you think you could make a post about chickens and their sicknesses and how to take care of them and etc?
This is so great! Most blogs, like you said, are either too easy or too hard, but this is purr-fect.
I love your website!
Love LOVE LLOOVVEE YOUR WEBSITE!!!! Keep up the good work Evelyn.
